What have British coaches Jamie Day and Stuart Watkiss been up to, since becoming Head Coach and Assistant Head Coach (respectively) of Bangladesh National Team a few months ago....? Well, they've just helped to make history along with their staff and team!
British Football Coaches Network member Jamie Day was revealed as the new Head Coach of Bangladesh mid May and compared to 1st team coaching action with English professional clubs such as Gillingham, you could say it was to be an interesting challenge. With his side entering the U23 'Asian Games' tournament where they was grouped with Uzbekistan, Thailand and Qatar, the 194th ranked team in the World (Bangladesh) have just qualified from the group stages for the first time in History!
Having lost and drawn in the group before the match, it took a last gasp strike from the Bangladesh captain to see off Qatar (ranked 98th) and proceed into the next round of 16. History has been made but for these two British coaches, the hard work has only just begun.
BFCN Says: 'Yet another example of British coaches doing well. Too many blinkered goggles being worn when searching for British Coaches achieving good things and those who deserve recognition for the coaches they are..... and not the players they may of been'!
